A bumper resource to support learning the alphabet, phonics and reading for EYFS and KS1. The first poster shows a colour picture for each letter of the alphabet. Children can use this as a worksheet adding either the first sound or the word. Laminate this and it can be useful in the writing corner. The second sheet is a replica of the first, but in black and white. Children love to colour this in, either using the colour pictures to copy or using their own colours. Next there is the full alphabet in both colour and black and white with a letter/word for each page. Each page shows a picture, the word and has some letters for children to overwrite. Alphabet Quiz Game KS1

Alphabet Quiz Game KS1

This is a fun game to play supporting your work on phonics and initial sounds. Lots of speaking and listening and thinking involved where the answers may not be so obvious as with the X slide where the pictures are things containing an x. There is a slide for each letter of the alphabet and 10 pictures on each slide. Children name the pictures and can say a phrase or sentence for each one. Differentiate by asking the children to name specific pictures dependent on their ability or levels. Press and the answers will fly in on command. You could extend this activity by asking the children to write a list for each of the letters of the alphabet and the answers can then be checked. Children could work in pairs or small groups or on their own. The picture cards can also be printed and cut out and then sorted or matched to the original slides.
